Edinburgh & Dundee Vintage Vinyl Record Fairs, 5th – 6th September & General Update

First of all, hello, and apologies for it being so long since our last post pop-pickers!

We have been exceptionally busy with finding and securing suitable retail premises close to Edinburgh city for the new Radical Independent Music vintage vinyl store, of which more later.

Edinburgh Vinyl Record Fair, 5th September, Cafe Camino – Dundee Vinyl Record Fair, 6th September, Caird Hall

Thanks to those of you who found your way down to the Grassmarket in the past four weekends whilst the Edinburgh Festival was on, to talk with us at the andmorecords vintage vinyl record stall.

This weekend, our good friend George Robertson of andmorecords fame, is running two vinyl (and CD) record fairs.

First up is Cafe Camino on Saturday.  For those of you not familiar with Cafe Camino it is located behind John Lewis adjacent to the church.

On Sunday it’s the turn of Marryat Hall, Caird Hall in the centre of Dundee.

In addition to andmorecords, there will be upwards of fifteen other vinyl sellers (and buyers) at both fairs, so get yourselves along…as you can never have enough vinyl.

Radical Independent Music will be helping George out at Cafe Camino on Saturday, so if you want to have a chat and find out the latest and greatest news about our new store, then stop by and say hello.

Radical Independent Vintage Vinyl Record Store Update

We are pleased to report that we have almost secured retail premises very close to Edinburgh city centre.

It has been a challenging search to find a shop large enough – and within our budget – to accommodate what will be a unique vintage vinyl record buying experience in Edinburgh, with our Italian coffee bar, art gallery and chill-out couches for you and your better halves to relax in whilst you are busy going through our racks A to Z…as you do!

We submitted our bid last week for the lease on the shop that we have found and are waiting to hear back from the owner.

In the meantime, we have been living in a virtual Franz Kafka novel as we wade our way through the City of Edinburgh Council planning application process as the store will require a Change of Use to be approved.

Initial indications are our application should not be a problem, but it will unfortunately take 6-8 weeks to process, so realistically we are now looking at an end of October opening at the earliest.

It will be worth the wait though, and we are planning an eventful opening weekend, featuring acoustic sets from a few local Edinburgh and Glasgow bands, so watch this space!

We are also planning to attend the largest vintage vinyl record fair in Europe on November 21st and 22nd, at the Jaarbeurs Convention centre in Utrecht, so expect to see plenty of new vintage vinyl in the shop after that excursion.

The next update you can expect is when we can confirm the lease on the shop has been agreed and we can reveal the location.

Can you stand the excitement and tension?!?!  Not sure we can!

Take it easy pop pickers.
